Happy Easter!

I tried so hard to get Jacob to stand still long enough for me to get a picture of him before we went to church on Sunday. It was mission impossible, and I gave up. He wouldn't even look at me when his dad was holding him. He acted like we were torturing him.

The Eater bunny brought Jacob some new wheels or as he calls it--a car.

Feelin' like a kid again!!

Jarom and I went out on Saturday night with our friends Seth and Brittney. We went out to dinner then played arcade games at the Skybox downtown. I don't remember the last time I played video games at an arcade, but it was fun. The highlight of the night was the surprise that Jarom wouldn't tell me about all week. We visited the Clark Planetarium to see the U2 laser show. It was really cool!! There's nothing like rocking out to U2 while watching crazy 3D animation and lasers. It was a lot of fun and just what I needed after a busy week of ....I don't know where to start!!! Thanks, Jarom, for a really great night out! Love ya!

First trip to the ER

About a week ago Jacob started off his day by vomiting all over me and the floor. Yuck!! Not a big deal, right? Well he was extra fussy and tired the rest of the day and into the next day. He started having diarrhea and threw up again. He was still really tired but he seemed to get a little better. By the time Saturday morning rolled around he was still having diarrhea and now he was refusing to eat or drink anything. We took him to the urgent care clinic to have him looked at. The doctor said it was the "stomach flu" and just to push fluids and watch for wet diapers. By the time Saturday afternoon rolled around we had changed too many diapers to count, and Jacob started throwing up again. We tried everything we could to get fluids in him. So after all this and no wet diapers we took him to the emergency room at Primary Children's on Saturday night. The nurses did their best to get him to drink but with no success. The doctor decided it was best to put him on an IV to get him rehydrated and to run some blood tests. Jacob screamed bloody murder while they put the IV in his hand then finally fell asleep despite the screaming babies and other kids all around us. When the blood tests came back the doctor said it would be best to keep him overnight because his bicarb level was too low. This basically means he had nothing in his stomach to help flush out the toxins that were making him sick. So to make a long story short we spent the night at the hospital so Jacob could refill his tank, flush out the toxins, and get feeling better. After spending most of Sunday there too the doctor finally said he was doing well enough to go home. At home we became the fluid nazis and offered Jacob his drink about every 30 seconds. We definitely didn't want to make a return trip :). He's fully recovered now--no messy diapers since yesterday morning!!!!! I do have to admit that there's one thing about him being sick that I wish would stay the same--he went to sleep so easy. No fights at all!! Today we are already back to the nap time battles. Oh well.
