For Sale

So we finally listed our condo for sale last weekend. This has been a long time coming for us. Things are finally falling into place for us to make this move. We've already shown it to a couple of people this week so that's exciting. Hopefully we'll be able to make some offers on some homes in the next month or so. Wish us luck! And if you know anyone who might be interested send them our way.

18 Months Old!

Since February 29 only comes every 4 years, and it is Jacob's "1/2" birthday I wanted to post some pictures of him from a year ago. I can't believe how much he's changed. My baby is growing up!!!!!!

Count Your Blessings!

A couple of days ago I was having a CHALLENGING day in the world of motherhood. Everything that day seemed to be a battle from getting Jacob dressed, feeding him, getting his shoes and coat on when we needed to go out, getting him to stop hitting or throwing things that shouldn't be thrown. By the time bedtime rolled around I was feeling pretty sorry for myself and thinking how hard my life was. With a little bit of time to myself (Jarom had church meetings), I turned on the computer to catch up on my blog reading. I read a post from some friends of ours who lost their oldest boy when he was just over a year old. Then I followed a link to a site about a little boy who became infected with meningitis and has been fighting for his life (see his site charliecooperjackjack.blogspot.com.) When Jarom got home from his meetings I was puffy eyed and still trying to control my emotions, and he decided to tell me about this family he'd gone to visit with the EQ president in our ward. This is a family with four children. The mom has been sick with cancer and the dad has trouble finding work since he just got out of jail and is on probation. They were just finishing dinner which consisted of two microwave meals shared among them with the kids asking for more. Their parents had to say that's all they had. This broke my heart and made me realize that I am really very blessed. So this was a lesson in attitude adjustment for me. I have a great husband who treats me like a queen and is the best dad to Jacob. Jacob is here and healthy and such a sweet thing who is trying to figure things out.

Last night I turned on the bath water to get it warmed up (didn't plug the drain yet) then left to finish dinner. Meanwhile Jacob heard the water running and ran to the bathroom. A few minutes later he's calling for us, but I ignored for a few more minutes thinking he had thrown something in the tub and wanted it back. After his call got more desperate I finally went in to see what he needed and found him in the tub trying to get the soap out of the bottle. He looked so frustrated all I could do was laugh. It's moments like these that I need to remember when it seems like I'll never be able to teach him what's ok to do and what's not. Hopefully I will do better at taking a few minutes everyday to count my blessings and be grateful for all that I have.

P.S. Jacob loves this oscar shirt!!!! I need one for him to wear everyday since he gets so excited to get dressed when he gets to wear it.

Winter Blues

I am so sick of the cold and snow!! We finally have sunshine today for the first time in what seems like months, and it's not freezing outside. This winter has been tough having a busy toddler who loves to be outside. I rack my brains everyday trying to think of new things for us to do. To top it off we've had sick bugs at our house the past couple weeks with Jacob having a nasty cold/ear infection and Jarom with a nasty cold/sinus infection. Somehow I've managed to stay healthy-thank goodness. Anyways I'm ready for spring!

I bought an annual pass to the aquarium in Sandy. Jacob LOVES to go there. It's nice because I can just let him run from display to display. His favorite is the jellyfish which is the top picture. You can't really see the jellyfish-oh well. When we walked inside this last time he said fishes, fishes over and over. It was so cute! One more word to his limited vocabulary.

Powder to the peoples

Skiing has been great this year! I don't think that I have skied a day this year where the mountain slopes were not covered with a new blanket of famous Utah powder. As I work my way into the 30 year old category, I don't know if I should stop jumping out of fear of leaving body parts on the hill, or fear of not being able to ski next week (I think more of the later). Amy has skied a few times with me, while I picked up her snowboard and skated that around. Usually I ski Solitude because of limited crowds, close proximity to home, and plenty of soft powder several days after a storm. Up until yesterday I have mostly stayed in-bounds. Yesterday Kendrick and I could not resist the towering peak above No Mans Land that had one solo track from top to bottom. We existed from the Summit lift gate and up Fantasy Ridge. After strapping our skis on our packs, we crawled up the ridge and onto the top. At the top we skied across the ridge to the last boot pack up and over to the north side of honeycomb canyon. The views from the top were spectacular. A cloud cover quickly moved in just as we were preparing to drop in. I watched as Kendrick dropped in down the hill cautious to not provoke any avalanches. He took off toward an edge that quickly descended into nothing. When he stopped I dropped in veering to the right and below the cliff Kendrick had established himself on. To straight run the cliff band, Kendrick would be attempting a 60+ foot air. I helping him work his way down through the rocks and after a little coxing he floated off a nice 20 footer into the untracked chute below. The run turned out to be one of the best of the year for me. After a week of storms totaling more than 60 inches, the powder was bottomless.

Zumba

I have been getting bored at the gym doing the same old cardio workouts everyday so last night I thought I'd check out this new aerobics class called Zumba. I have never felt so silly in my life. Being able to swing my hips like the latino dancers is definitely NOT one of my many talents. Too bad I don't have video of it. It would be a hoot I'm sure! I think I will stick to the same old workouts.

Weekend getaway!

My gift to Jarom for his birthday was a weekend away. So this weekend, we left Jacob at my parents in Aurora and went to Bryce Canyon to play in the snow. We did some cross-country skiing on Saturday along the rim of the canyon. The weather was beautiful--sunny, clear and fairly warm. We had a really good time. We spent the night at Ruby's Inn and headed back on Sunday morning. Jacob had a blast at grandma & grandpa's-thanks mom & dad!!
