I think it's about time for a new post. I saw this title on a friend's blog and thought that is exactly how I feel today. Things have been really busy for us lately, and today is the first day in awhile where I've felt like I can finally relax and just enjoy the day. Even if it is just for a day, I am going to make the best of it. Jacob and I went to the gym this morning then when we got home I chased him all over the backyard. A game of chase is his all-time favorite thing. He laughs and laughs!!! I've been spending so much time working on our house the last couple weeks that I haven't chased him enough. He's been so patient for a two year old. But I have this problem. It's called timeout. I have not been the most consistent at using timeouts, but it's getting to where I need to be because I don't know how else to teach Jacob that it's not ok to spit his food all over the floor or that it's not ok to climb on the countertops. Any ideas? He knows where the timeout corner is, but my problem is getting him to stay there for the full two minutes unless I physically hold him there. Where is Super Nanny when I need her?
Also, we are getting to the point where we need to start hiring a babysitter outside family. I have a girl in mind who lives down the street, and we know her dad pretty well. My question is how much should I pay her? I don't know what the going rates are these days.
On a side note, I love to read historical fiction. I love history but don't love to read history books. It took me weeks to get through 1776. Anyhow I recently read a book that was about young people who lived in the USSR in the early 1900s. I don't really know how to describe the way this book made me feel. I've been trying so hard to be optimistic about our new president-elect, but honestly his policies scare me. I wonder how many people out there really know what socialism would do to our country or to their lives???? I'm not saying Obama is a socialist, but some of his ideas are too close for comfort. Don't get me started on his spread the wealth idea......That is all I'm going to say about politics.
